At NOVA Labs, our research explores the fundamental principles behind the transit method, a cornerstone technique for discovering exoplanets.
What is the Transit Method?
The transit method detects exoplanets by measuring the tiny, periodic decrease in a star's brightness caused when a planet crosses in front of it, known as a transit. This dip in light creates a characteristic "light curve" that reveals valuable information about the planet and its orbit.

Since its first major successes with NASA's Kepler mission, the transit method has revolutionized exoplanet science, leading to the discovery of thousands of planets beyond our solar system. It remains one of the most effective ways to identify potentially habitable worlds and to study their atmospheres through follow-up observations.
